Affectionately known as Singapore's Chow Yun Fatt by Singapore media
and fans from all over Asia, there is more to Jonathan Li Nanxing
than meets the eye. Charming, cool and charismatic are just some of
the words often used to describe Jonathan through his 18 years as
a thespian.
Fronting every teen magazine on the newsstands when he first started
his acting career in the 80s, Jonathan has since risen to a level
of stardom that only few of his contemporaries could match.
A man of many facades, Jonathan has portrayed roles diversifying from
an assassin whose minimally emotive and threatening aura send chills
up our spine in Life On The Line, to a virtuous and
all-out cop in What a Wonderful World with heavenly
king Andy Lau, to a loving husband and devoted father of quadruplets
caught up in a mid-life crisis in Baby Boom. A man with many
talents, Jonathan also contributes to his dramatic serials musically
by singing the theme song to most of the shows that he's acted in.
But many Singaporeans, and fans across Asia, will undoubtedly remember
Jonathan best, as the God of Gamblers in Singapore's drama The
Unbeatables. This role solidified his image and persona in
the hearts of viewers and eventually spawned 3 sequels.
With a long list of accolades to his name, it is also exactly why
Jonathan Li Nanxing has been branded as the King of Caldecott Hill
by his fans and co-stars.
